The Story
On June 5, 2014, Maggie Weiss was in Seville, Spain on a study abroad program when she was hit by a 20-ton city bus. She traveled 25 meters through the air from the point of impact. Her parents, Tad and Wendy Weiss traveled across the ocean to be by her side. Our story journals Maggie’s five-year recovery from the accident, and how God caught her, saved her, carried her, and healed her. The story illustrates the power of prayer and community, and how God can bring great things from the most tragic of events.
Our story is more than a comeback story. It starts with a miracle and illustrates the power of the body of Christ. It is a story that spans the globe, and a guide for handling adversity and hardship. With equal parts drama, adventure, progress, and challenge, with some daily devotions mixed in, we invite you to follow our story and see how it impacts your story.
Tad Weiss released the book, 25 Meters to God, in August of 2022. In conjunction with the release of the book, Maggie and Tad raced in IRONMAN Wisconsin in September of 2022. They raised over $350,000 for the IRONMAN Foundation, Feed My Starving Children, Engage Your Destiny, and Wine to Water! Maggie won the female amateur division, qualifying to race at the IRONMAN World Championships in Kona, Hawaii in October of 2023!!
As Maggie trained for Kona, she was racing a 1/2 IRONMAN in Chattanooga, TN in May when she tore her Achilles. It appeared that her dream of racing at Kona wasn’t going to happen. But with the help of a great medical and rehabilitation team, and Jesus’ healing powers, Maggie competed at Kona 4 months after surgery! She finished in 100th place out of over 2,000 women from around the world, and in 12th place in the 25-29 age group! God is still at work in and through Maggie, and we’ll tell our story to anyone that wants to hear it!!
We hope that you will be blessed by the book and our story. Our God is the God of miracles today, just as He was thousands of years ago. Our family’s hope and prayer are that you can experience God in a new way and enjoy the fullness of life that He desires for us all.
